Domain Controllers: Must be running Windows Server 2012 R2 or later, and at least one domain controller in each Active Directory site where Exchange will be installed must be running Windows Server 2012 R2 or later.
Active Directory Forest Functional Level: The forest functional level must be at least Windows Server 2008 R2 or later.
